Atlanta Soccer News: Art, Music and Culture: Empoli FC Academy USA active in Atlanta Summer 2010

Like every child growing up in Italy, Gavino Asteghene dreamed of becoming a professional soccer player. That dream was achieved at the age of 12 when he was signed as a full-time player at the Italian School Developmental Program. Gavino became an effective and sucessful youth and high school coach and was named Coach of the Year by his peers at GSSA in 1999. He has been in popular demand in the local soccer community for the past 30 years and given hundreds of players the opportunity to showcase their soccer skills in front of college coaches and professional teams. After years of traveling internationally and visiting many professional soccer academies, he found what he considers to be the best youth developmental program at Empoli FC Academy. The academy believes, breeds and provides top training and gives the best opportunity for players from the United States and other countries to live out their soccer dream.

In the heart of Tuscany in the outskirts of Florence, surrounded by vineyards and olive trees, Empoli FC professional training facility stands tall against all others. The talented staff trains players of different ages from different countries, infusing the passion of the game with the technical skill set needed for young players to reach the top


Technical Director Fabrizio Del Rosso, is a product of the Empoli FC Academy, played in the first division Italian League, Seria A for Fiorentina, Messina, Cosenza, Catania, Prato, and Pisa. As a head coach, led the Allievi Nazionali to victory in the Italian National Championships twice and overall is a three-time title holder.


Alessio Garofalo the Academy Fitness Coach. Trains the Empoli FC first division team as the Speed and Fitness coach. Also a member of the FIGC coaching staff.


Massimo Giraldi Assitant Technical Director. Empoli FC Academy coach since 1995.

Lorenzo Fattori Empoli FC Academy Goalkeeping Coach. Played professionally for Inter Milan and Fiorentina prior to becoming a member of the Empoli FC Academy coaching staff.

Empoli FC Academy USA have set dates for the 2010 Summer Camps. Empoli FC Academy USA Area Director, Gavino Asteghene is teaming up with different soccer associations and high schools in the area to bring back the Empoli FC Academy Summer Camp Series for the fourth year in a row.

Fabrizio Del Rosso and other talented coaches from Empoli FC will be here to teach players about "training - the Empoli way". The staff is always on the lookout for prospects to send to Italy to study and play at the Empoli FC Academy which is ranked 5th in the world by FIFA.

The Alpharetta Ambush Soccer Club, Arsenal Soccer Club, Georgia Rush Soccer Club, Harrison High School, NASA Soccer Club, and Rome YMCA will host the camps invited to male and female soccer players -both select and recreational- in the Atlanta area to attend. Every camp participant will receive the official Empoli FC training jersey and an official Empoli FC certificate of participation. Other official Empoli gear will be available for purchase at the field.
