Week 2 of the English Premier League causes many Atlantans to Wonder?

Round two of the English Premier League is now complete. Manchester United dominated with Wellbeck and the return of the Mexican wonder boy affectionally known as Cheeseburrito. Chelsea got the first will under new manager Villa “Sheriff”‘ Lobo while Arsenal lost the skipper Cesc Fibreglass to Barcelona. Some teams suffered from midweek European action while others freaked on transfer rumors.

Atlanta has not been insulated from the EPL drama. Predicting the score this week has been as volatile as the stock market. This week saw Johnny Canuck, also known as Paul Kelly retaining the lead by posting 26 points and beating off newcomer Marietta-Liverpool. Marietta-Liverpool is managed by Franklin Young, midfielder for CASL powerhouse Rovers White. “Johnny Canuck can run but he cannot hide. Im predict that I will pass him by week 3” said Young.

Team Marietta Liverpool better not think too much about his Canadian neighbor because right behind him is Das Boots with 44 points. Das Boots is managed by Jeff Montgomery, whose daytime job is coaching CASL Arsenal. Jeff has been accused by many of being delusional. He reinforced this idea by accosting this reporter Sunday; claiming that he was top of the table. “I am now top of the table and I expect the accolades and glory that come with this title” exclaimed Montgomery. In order to humor Montgomery, many offered to toast him Sunday night after the matches … he did not show up. Top of the table Johnny Canuck responded, “ Typical ARSEnal supporter”.

Current champion Quique Lopez tried to put things in perspective, “We saw the same kind of meteoric rise early in the campaign from the less experienced. I must remind everybody that it is a very long and grueling season. The jackrabbits need to relax and come down to earth. I caution the leaders that transferring their arrogance to the training ground can cause violence. Is it a coincidence that the bust up that occurred Sunday involved last week’s leaders of the Predict the Score?”

The season just started and its not too late to join, if you would like to join:
• Here the deal: You pick the scores of each EPL game for each week. You pick the top 5 scorers for that week. You earn points.
• Time: takes 5 minutes a week. ( It takes me less time because I am a soccer sage and a top prognosticator)
• Extras: We will have weekly playing/drinking/discussion events at fields and strategically located pubs. Mostly in Cobb/Fulton County. Weekly winners will be honored and will earn a beer.
Cost: FREE

  1. Typical reporting... twisting what was actually said into something different. I said, "I'm top of the table for the WEEK", and I was until Rooney made the score 3-0, giving Franklin a one-point victory.

  2. Upon reflection I find this all quite amazing. I'm just glad to be here and getting the oppotunity to choose games and scorers every week. Of course when I was a kid I always dreamed of being able to pick winners in a Predict the Score league but it wasn't until I was quite a bit older I thought the possibility might come true. I would just like to thank all the people who made it possible to participate not least amongst them the folks from my club Express, The Rovers Football Club, Training partners, friends and mentors, such as Enrique Lopez, Orlando, Mike Kinion and Arthur. Without their influence I wouldn't be able to compete in a league of this caliber.
