ArseneWenger has reportedly made up his mind and will indeed offer Arsenal legend Thierry Henry the chance to re-join the Gunners in a stunning January loan move.

It looked like the 34-year-old's career at the highest level and in the spotlight was at an end when he retired from international duty with France in the summer of 2010 and moved to MLS, joining the New York Red Bulls from Barcelona.

Now, a temporary marriage of convenience could boost the morale of Arsenal fans with a dream return, while also solving a problem for Wenger, who is already short on quality backup players and will lose squad members to the African Cup of Nations.

You know you’re already a club legend when there is a statue of you outside the stadium and Henry is one of the Premier League’s greats after scoring 226 in eight stunning years with Arsenal.

If Henry does elect to return to the club where he enjoyed so many past glories, he would not be the first big-name player to make such a comeback.

PARIS, Dec 29 (Reuters) - Italian Carlo Ancelotti was spotted at a Paris hospital on Thursday amid press reports he could sign as coach of Paris St Germain in the coming hours.
A Reuters photographer saw the former AC Milan and Chelsea coach spend an hour at the Pitie Salpetriere hospital, which is used by PSG for staff medicals.
PSG are top of the French league but reports have persisted that their big-spending Qatari owners want a higher-profile coach than Antoine Kombouare, in place before May’s takeover.
The club said last week that “serene discussions” were taking place with Kombouare but stopped short of saying he had been removed. (Reporting by Benoit Tessier; Writing by Mark Meadows
Celtic climbed to the summit of the Scottish Premier League as a second half goal from Joe Ledley saw it clinch a 1-0 Old Firm victory and move above Rangers.

After being 15 points behind its Glasgow rivals at one point this season the Parkhead side now goes into 2012 with the advantage at the top of the table.

Celtic started the game at breakneck speed, with Garry Hooper having two chances in the first two minutes, firstly from a Charlie Mulgrew free kick, then as a result of a long throw in from Adam Matthews, but both times the Englishman failed to find the target.

The visitors should have gone ahead with only six minutes on the clock, as Sone Aluko crossed from the right wing to find Lee Wallace at the back post, but the former Hearts full back was denied as Fraser Forster clawed the effort away.

Neil Lennon’s side had the ball in the net with just over a quarter of an hour gone as Allan McGregor failed to properly deal with a Hooper shot from the edge of the area, but as Georgios Samaras tapped in the rebound he was called offside.

Halfway through the first half Rangers had a great chance as Aluko whipped a corner from the left onto the head of Nikica Jelavic, who directed the ball towards goal and Carlos Bocanegra got onto the ball, but could only put it by the post.

Rangers shot stopper McGregor once again failed to deal with a Hooper strike from the edge of the area, as the Celtic frontman turned his marker and powered the ball towards goal, but luckily for the 'keeper, his defense was there to clear.

Both sides continued to play out the remainder of the half at ultra-fast speed, but with both sides having to deal with the elements of hurricane style winds and driving rain, neither team could find the opening to lead going into the halftime break.

The Wales international's goal seals Neil Lennon's side come back from 15 points behind to climb above its Glasgow rivals with a festive victory in the fiery derby fixture
Heads Up | Samaras beats Bocanegra but couldn't make the breakthrough in the first half
Samaras had the first chance of the second half five minutes in, picking up the ball on the left hand side and racing forward, but his cross was cleared by Bocanegra away from danger.

Then, a minute later, the home side took the lead after McGregor had put a James Forrest shot over for a corner, which Mulgrew swung in from the left, with Ledley rising above the Rangers defense to power the ball into the back of the net.

Celtic continued to dominate possession, with Samaras going down the left wing, beating two Rangers defenders before crossing into the box, but none of his teammates could get on the end of the pass in order to double the lead for the Parkhead side.

The Parkhead side suffered agony with just over a quarter of an hour left in the game as midfield playmaker Beram Kayal was forced off on a stretcher after a clash with Lee McCulloch, which meant Lennon was forced to bring on South Korean midfielder Ki Sung-Yeung.

The visitors seemed to be losing their discipline late on, as firstly substitute David Healy brought down Forrest, then Kyle Lafferty fouled Matthews, and on both occasions referee Willie Collum produced a yellow card for the offenders.

Rangers tried for the reminder of the game to get forward and find the equalizer that would keep them at the top of the league, but the Celtic defense stood firm in order to claim the victory and put Lennon’s side to the top of the league.

Jermaine Pennant's Aston Martin

Admittedly he's not the first footballer to do it, but Stoke City midfielder Jermaine Pennant has truly mastered the art of automotive subtlety by getting his Aston Martin DBS resprayed in chrome. Defacing a $200,000 car in this manner isn't cheap, but it's certainly a more convenient way of attracting attention than shouting "LOOK AT ME!" at everyone you drive past.
The extra-dark window tinting also is a good idea. Not only can the Stoke footballer easily hide his next model girlfriend from his current one, but he can live in his own filth with impunity — this is the front seat of his old Ferrari.

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has admitted that he would not think twice about signing Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez if he was given the chance.

The Argentine looks certain to leave the Etihad Stadium in the January transfer window following recent troubles with manager Roberto Mancini, and Serie A giant AC Milan is the striker’s most likely destination.

"I like Tevez, he's a fantastic player. I couldn't see it happening, but I'd be a liar if I said I wouldn't take him if I had the chance,” he told TalkSport. "When he plays, he's top class. Whatever you say about him, when he plays he has a real go and never plays without putting in all in."

Spurs are currently third in the Premier League table, just seven points off Manchester City and Manchester United with a game in hand, and Redknapp insists he is happy with his current squad and is not planning any moves in the transfer market unless a top player becomes available.

"I think we'll stay with what we've got. Unless you can buy a fantastic player, we aren't going to improve too much," he added.

BULLISH Ally McCoist last night made his boldest prediction as Rangers boss ahead of tonight’s Old Firm crunch and roared: We WILL win.

McCoist heads to Parkhead knowing defeat against Celtic will see his side slip two points behind their biggest rivals at the top of the SPL having led by 15 less than two months ago.

But fear or contemplation of a negative result did not even enter the gaffer’s head as he made his startling statement on the eve of the game.

McCoist said: “I do believe we will win the game, absolutely.

“We have the players to win and it’s as simple as that. I have great belief in the boys here.

“Make no mistake about it, it’s a very tough place to go. But I see us winning the game.

“I would not be doing my job if I was being anything other than positive and confident.”

McCoist knows his troops are under pressure after squandering their massive points gap at the top.

But he added: “Would Celtic rather go into this game not playing well but one point ahead? For me, you would rather be ahead.

“No matter what happens, when you ask me for my reaction afterwards I’m going to be positive.

“It’s three vital points but that’s all. The fact is you don’t need to win this game to win the league but I’d rather win these matches and the league.

“Celtic took more points from the Old Firm games last season and we won the league.”
Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has reiterated his desire to return to the Premier League "in a couple of years'', once his time in the Bernabeu hotseat is over.

GettyImagesJose Mourinho has been tipped as a potential successor to Sir Alex Ferguson at Man Utd

The former Chelsea manager has always been open about his love of the game in England and has long been linked with taking over Sir Alex Ferguson's role at Manchester United when the Scot decides to retire.
The Portuguese joined Madrid on a four-year contract in the summer of 2010 and this season has guided the Spanish giants to the top of the Primera Division, three points clear of Barcelona going into the winter break, but he has described a return to the Premier League as "the next step''.
"I am very, very happy to be in Real Madrid. It is a great experience for me," Mourinho told BBC Radio Four. "I believe it is probably the biggest club in the history of football.
"I didn't want to miss the chance to work here but my passion is England and my next step will be to go back, if possible go and stay for a long time. Get me a club in a couple of years, get me a good club.''
The 48-year-old is a renowned student of the game but he insists "individual genius'' will always prevail regardless of the amount of preparation and organisation.
"I think the genius will make always the difference," Mourinho said. "And the genius in my sport is about some unbelievable players that can break every organisation and every work you can do.
"Genius in managing also exists. For me in football the most important thing is man management. Football for me is a human science, it is about man.''
Mourinho also agreed the prospect of human failure is one of the attractions of sport, saying: "Emotional intelligence is crucial at this level in every sport. It is one thing to take a penalty winning 5-0 in a friendly, another thing is to take a penalty kick in the last minute of the Champions League or World Cup final.
"I try to prepare my players the best I can but in the end of the day they are the guys that decide everything in the right moment. They make the difference. I analyse them in a group context always but I know they are all unique.
"This is an amazing experience - many of us don't want to quit, never. We want to go to the last day we can because this leadership becomes part of our life.''
