Letter from the Silverbacks to the Fans

Wow, what a year!

Although the Atlanta Silverbacks didn't come away with a win on the field in the NASL Soccer Bowl last Saturday, our organization, our fan base, and our city left as winners off the field. The crowd of 7,211 fans that turned up for the league's championship game set a franchise attendance record, serving as the biggest crowd to ever attend a single game at Atlanta Silverbacks Park. Going beyond the numbers, the fans in attendance created a world class soccer environment, chanting, waving flags, and cheering on the home team throughout the entire game. For those in attendance and those watching on the national ESPN TV broadcasts, it was evident that there is an extreme passion for soccer in the city of Atlanta - and one that is continuing to grow with every new day.

The Soccer Bowl wasn’t the only game this season, though. In fact, Silverbacks fans were behind the team the entire year. From the season-opening win over the Fort Lauderdale Strikers to the Spring Season Championship celebration to the international friendly against Guatemalan side Club Xelaju MC, the fans came out in full force. The Silverbacks hosted 15 official games at home in 2013, and NINE of those games were played in front of sellout crowds at Atlanta Silverbacks Park. Since 2011, the club's paid attendance is up a staggering 101%.

All of this was made possible by YOU the fans, and it shows Atlanta’s growing desire to support soccer at the highest level. The Silverbacks would like to thank each and every fan that supported the team this year, and the club can't wait to continue growing next season.

THANK YOU, FANS!
