Beat Splash Breakers

August 21, the Boston Breakers (8-7-5) fell 3-2 to the Atlanta Beat (5-10-5) at Veterans Stadium in New Britain, Connecticut, but still remain in third place in the WPS standings and focused on the playoffs. The Breakers gave away three goals to the Beat before rebounding in the final minutes. Lori Chalupny scored unassisted in the 11th minute and Eniola Aluko scored a brace in the 66th and 73rd minutes, first assisted by Angie Kerr and then unassisted, for her eighth and ninth goals of the season. Lindsay Tarplay scored for the Breakers in the 87th minute and Kristine Lilly scored in injury time.
