Manchester City will 'probably' try to sell Mario Balotelli this summer following the defeat to Arsenal

Roberto Mancini has admitted Manchester City will 'probably' try to sell Mario Balotelli this summer following the striker's dismissal during the club's defeat to Arsenal on Sunday.

The 21 year old has become a figure of frustration at the Etihad Stadium as despite his undoubted talent, his discipline both on and off the field has often let down his manager and his teammates at City.

This had led to reports of his exit from the club in the summer as Mancini was said to have finally lost patience with the Italian striker.

When asked if City plan to sell Balotelli at the end of the season, Mancini told reporters: "Probably".

The Citizens boss admitted after seeing the striker red carded in their loss to the Gunners that the 21 year old is in danger of losing his potential is keeps up his poor attitude on the pitch.

"I always defend him because Mario is a good guy," Mancini said, "but if he’ll not change in the future he can lose all his talent. If he doesn’t understand this after two years I can do nothing. I hope for him that he can improve and understand that he can’t continue to play like this. For his future and his talent, I’m very sorry for him.”

Mancini also revealed he wants the Football Association to take further action against the Balotelli following his horrendous tackle on Alex Song which he escaped unpunished by referee Martin Atkinson.

“From the bench, at first I didn’t see it but it was a bad tackle.” When asked if the FA should have a look at the incident and take disciplinary action, he said: “I hope.”
