SILVERBACKS HOSTING YOUTH CLINICS ALL OVER ATLANTA

youth clinics
One of the common assumptions people have about professional athletes is that they go to practice in the morning, play on the field, and then go home and relax for the rest of the day. While this may be the case with players in many professional sports organizations, it’s not the case with Georgia’s only professional soccer team, Atlanta Silverbacks FC.
The Silverbacks have always made a commitment to giving back to the local soccer community, but the organization has really ramped up its involvement over the course of the last several seasons. Silverbacks players regularly spend their time away from the field hosting clinics, coaching, and making appearances at schools, camps, festivals, and other community events.
Perhaps the biggest hit in the community so far this season is the series of skills clinics that the Silverbacks have been hosting at local area youth soccer clubs. The Silverbacks haven’t just been sending their professional players to sign autographs and cheer the kids on – the players have been coaching Atlanta’s youth and helping them improve their skills.
Since April, the Silverbacks have brought 4-8 players on site to run soccer clinics at the following clubs/organizations: Chiefs Fútbol Club, Dacula Soccer Club Revolution, Smyrna Soccer Club, Barrow Youth Soccer Association, Roswell Soccer Club, Georgia Rush, Triumph Youth Soccer Association, Decatur-Dekalb YMCA, Rockdale Youth Soccer Association, Clayton County Parks and Recreation, and Boy Scouts of America.
The Silverbacks also held a full-speed team training session on site at Dacula Soccer Club earlier this season, practicing in front of hundreds of youth soccer players and their parents so that they can get a sense of the drills and training methods that a professional team employs to get prepared for its opponents.
On top of giving hands-on instruction to Metro Atlanta’s next crop of soccer stars, the Silverbacks players always stick around to sign autographs and take pictures with those attending the clinics. The club has three more clinics planned for the coming weeks. The Silverbacks will welcome athletes from Special Olympics Georgia to Atlanta Silverbacks Park on Friday. Clinics have also been scheduled for Buckhead FC and East Cobb YMCA.
With the NASL Fall Season underway, the Silverbacks will be scheduling several more soccer clinics and community appearances so that their players can continue to have a positive influence on those who are involved in the city’s youth soccer programs.
