The Georgia State men’s soccer program is partnering with US Youth Soccer to host Youth Soccer Day

ATLANTA, Ga., (September 16, 2011) — The Georgia State men’s soccer program is proud to announce it is partnering with US Youth Soccer to host Youth Soccer Day at its match against FIU this Sunday at 12 Noon.
GSU will have a soccer inflatable, t-shirts, youth soccer hand fans and other giveaways for fans at the Panthersville Soccer Complex on Sunday. The mascot of Georgia State, Pounce, will also make an appearance to help root on the Panthers against FIU.

“I think it’s an awesome idea and I’m really happy we could get this together,” GSU head coach Brett Surrency said, “I remember when I went to my first college soccer game as a kid and it was awesome. To see the players and to go on the field at halftime and after the game was a big thrill for me.”

US Youth Soccer is the nation's largest youth sports association. For the ninth year, US Youth Soccer is celebrating Youth Soccer Month in September to promote the benefits of soccer. Each week during Youth Soccer Month will focus on a different message celebrating soccer. The four messages of Youth Soccer month are:

Fun: (Week of September 5)
Whether recreational or competitive in nature, involvement in soccer is easy, affordable and rewarding.

Family: (Week of September 12)
Playing soccer ties families together as schedules, vacations and family time are coordinated.

Friendship: (Week of September 19)
The relationships generated through playing soccer extend beyond the field.

Fitness: (Week of September 26)
The health and fitness (physical, psychological and social) benefits of playing soccer.
