Silverbacks Announce Jersey Auction

ATLANTA — The Atlanta Silverbacks will auction off their game-worn jerseys, with all proceeds benefiting the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta, the team announced Monday.
“Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta takes pride in preparing our youth for a great future,” said Missy Dugan, President and CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta. “Events like this allow us to provide quality programs that empower our youth to become productive and successful adults.”
The jersey of each player currently on the Silverbacks roster will be up for auction, and the players will be available to sign the jerseys and pose for photos with the winning bidders.
The silent auction will take place September 24 at Atlanta Silverbacks Park before and during the Silverbacks’ final game of the season. The auction opens at 5 p.m., and bidding will close at the conclusion of halftime; after the game, the winners will be invited onto the stadium field to get their jerseys. Boys & Girls Club members will be attending the game as guests of the Silverbacks.
“I’m glad our team is able to support an organization that does so many good things for kids here in Atlanta,” said midfielder Raphael Cox, who played sports at the Boys & Girls Clubs in Federal Way, Wash., as a child. “And I hope the fans will enjoy getting to take home a piece of Silverbacks history, too.”
The minimum bid for each jersey will be $70, with minimum bid increments of $5. An official 2011 NASL match ball signed by the team will also be available for a minimum bid of $70. Fans who wish to bid in advance of the September 24 game may do so by emailing auction@atlantasilverbacks.com; emailed bids must include the bidder’s complete contact information and must be $100 or more per item.
