Georgia State men’s soccer program announced the signing of two Atlanta-area prep players

Men’s Soccer Signs Two from Atlanta Area
ATLANTA, Ga., (June 22, 2012) — The Georgia State men’s soccer program announced the signing of two Atlanta-area prep players, Coleman Parks and Tyler Prince, as the newest members of the team on Friday.

Parks hails from The Paideia School while Prince comes to Georgia State from Kell High School in Marietta, Ga. The two join a talented team that prepares for its third season under head coach Brett Surrency in 2012.

Parks, who played defender and midfielder, was an All-Region selection from 2010-12 and an All-County honoree in 2011 and 2012 during his prep career. He scored 33 goals, dished out 45 assists and was a member of a defense that totaled 40 shutouts.

Prince was a two-sport athlete at Kell, playing goalkeeper and forward on the soccer team and kicker on the football team. He was named the Marietta Daily-Journal Scholar-Athlete in 2012 and an All-Region 5, 4A selection in 2012. Prince was an All-Cobb County Honorable Mention in 2010 and was named the Kell High School MVP in 2012 and 2011. He allowed just seven goals during his senior season.

Parks and Prince join a talented incoming class which includes incoming freshmen Conor Acheson and William Mellors-Blair and transfer student Pete Kurowski.

The Georgia State men's soccer team returns to the field for preseason training in August after it posted solid results this spring. The team is coming off a historic season which included a trip to the 2011 NCAA Tournament.
