More details have emerged about the proposed sports and entertainment district surrounding Turner Field, including a new multi-use stadium for a Major League Soccer team.
Atlanta’s development authority, Invest Atlanta, issued a request for ideas last September to gauge interest in redeveloping the 55 acres surrounding Turner Field. Invest Atlanta will spend this year meeting with the developers and architects behind the initial concepts.
It will join other stakeholders in the project, including the Atlanta Braves, to set development guidelines and, eventually, issue a detailed request for proposals, said Tyrone Rachal, managing director of redevelopment for Invest Atlanta.
