CONYERS, Ga. --- The Georgia soccer team defeated in-state rival Georgia State by a 1-0 score Tuesday night in spring season play at the Rockdale Youth Soccer Association (RYSA) Soccerplex in Conyers, improving to 3-1 on its off-season schedule.

The Bulldogs got a first-half goal from rising senior Nicole Locandro off an assist from classmate Torri Allen. After the Panthers’ goalkeeper was injured and the squad was left without a reserve, Georgia keeper Kathleen Eastmanstepped in to register three big saves for the other side.

Georgia is back in action this weekend as it hosts a 7-v-7 tournament at home. The event is set to begin at 9 a.m. at the UGA Soccer Stadium and will include teams from Armstrong Atlantic, Clayton State, Georgia College, Georgia Gwinnett College, Kennesaw State, Mercer, North Georgia College, and Valdosta State in round-robin action. The Bulldogs won the tournament in 2012. The team will then conclude the 2013 spring campaign on Sat., April 20 vs. Georgia Southern at 7 p.m. in Athens.
