Tyler Perry Donates $5,000 to Atlanta Area Soccer Team After Theft

Filmmaker Tyler Perry donated $5,000 to Gwinnett County's Phoenix Red Boys soccer team after $4,000 of funds that would have helped them get to an out-of-state tournament was stolen.
"It's not about winning or losing games. It's about more for the boys to do a showcase there, so that the college coaches can offer them scholarships," Coach Bruno Kalonji told WSB.
WSB reports that the Red Boys are ranked No. 1 in the country and the team needs the funds in order to attend this week's regional tournament in Oklahoma and a national tournament in Kansas.
The money was allegedly stolen by a motorcyclist while the team was eating at a restaurant last week.
The team has done other fundraisers and Church's Chicken has also pledged $3,000 to them.
This marks the second donation Tyler Perry has made this week, according to the station. Perry also donated $50,000 to Mike Patterson, a Georgia father with no health insurance who became paralyzed after saving a drowning 4-year-old girl at the Rockmart Dam.
