NASA Coach Dies After Being Struck By Car

KENNESAW, Ga. - A teacher and soccer coach from Kennesaw died Friday from injuries suffered after being hit by an SUV.

Jeffery Ingram, 32, was hit by an SUV early Thursday morning while he went for a jog in his neighborhood.

Hundreds of people attended a candlelight vigil for Ingram Friday night at the Quest Soccer Field, where Ingram, known as "Coach Jay," coached soccer since 1995.

"He was the most inspirational man to me and he taught me to always believe in myself, and he gave me the self confidence to always strive forward, push forward," said Allie Grisi.

Ingram was also a physical education teacher at Kennesaw Charter Science and Math Academy.

“The guy’s just full of life and energy. I mean he changed a room when he walked into it. He’s just a phenomenal human being,” said Dave Smith.

Ingram's father and stepmother stood in the crowd at the vigil and were moved by the stories they heard.

"I just loved my son and it shows a testament...of the great things he's done," said Jeffery Ingram, Sr.

"It is very rewarding to see that he loved so many children and his family so much," said Stephanie Ingram, Jeff's stepmother.

Police said Ingram was hit by behind while jogging. Police are still investigating the incident. No arrests have been made.

Ingram leaves a wife and two young children.
