Grizzlies take down Kell, notch first win

    Trailing 1-0 out of the half, Caleb Cooley played a long throw-in from Ben McClellan and found the back of the net to pull the Grizzlies (1-3-1, 1-0 region) even midway through the second. Not long after, it was Cooley delivering an assist, connecting with freshman David Alvarez on a free kick that pushed Creekview on top, 2-1. Adding the finishing touches, Miguel Sanchez scored to provide a little breathing room for the Grizzlies’ defense, which was led by senior back Tyler Hester and senior keeper Stephen Carse.

Chiefs grab region win
Victor Rivera netted a goal and added an assist and Ethan Riggle pulled in 11 saves as the Sequoyah Chiefs snapped a four-game slide with a 2-1 victory at Region 7AAAAA foe Forsyth Central on March 8.
Jorden Kirkland also scored for the Chiefs (3-4, 1-1 region) and Jonathan Guy picked up an assist.

Woodstock rallies past Lady Knights
Although River Ridge struck first with a first-half goal from Alexis Lewis, the Woodstock Lady Wolverines responded with a pair of goals over the final 40 minutes of play to down the Lady Knights, 2-1, March 4.
Putting the Lady Wolverines on the board, sophomore Jordan Barham found the upper-90 on a free kick from 20 yards out just past the half-way mark of the second half. Freshman Summer Montgomery then scored the game-winner just minutes later, recovering a shot deflected by the Lady Knights keeper and sticking the ball in the back of the net.
Woodstock keeper Abbey Booz came up with 11 saves, while Lady Wolverines’ Head Coach Cory Nix credited freshman midfielder Mia Penton for her play in marking Kennesaw State-bound River Ridge standout Shannon Driscoll all night.
Hosting AAAAAA No. 2 state-ranked Mill Creek on March 6, Woodstock (2-2) trailed by just one at the half but could not hold off a second-half flurry by the Lady Hawks in a 5-0 defeat.

Lady Knights drill North Cobb
Snapping a three-game skid, the River Ridge Lady Knights erupted for four second-half goals to knock off visiting North Cobb in a non-region affair March 6, in Woodstock.
Leading the charge, Shannon Driscoll netted a pair of goals, while Allison Clarke-Hall had a goal and an assist.
Working off an assist from Jessica AnthonyMaddie Brooks recorded the first goal of the evening for the Lady Knights, and Alexis Lewis capped the scoring for the night.
Keeper Rachel Peterson came up with four saves in the win, including one on a direct kick.

Lady Chiefs fall to Kell
Dropping their Region 7AAAAA opener, the Sequoyah Lady Chiefs suffered a 3-1 defeat to Kell on March 5, in Marietta.
Denisse Leyva scored the lone goal for the Lady Chiefs (3-4), and Catie Cangemi recorded eight saves.
