GAC soccer claims AA No. 1 spot
Annie Rizzo
There is a new No. 1 in Class AA as Westminster was replaced by Greater Atlanta Christian after dropping two games to out-of-state teams. GAC, on the other hand, picked up a quality win by defeating region-rival Lovett. Undefeated Calhoun jumped to No. 2 while Westside-Augusta, also undefeated, emerged at No. 4 ahead of a logjam of teams with good, but not great resumes.
In Class AAAAAA, Peachtree Ridge dropped after a loss to Brookwood, which climbed to No. 5. Johns Creek dropped out of the rankings after losing games to Centennial and Lambert. Centennial moved up to No. 3 while East Coweta jumped to sixth. Harrison and Duluth entered the poll in the wake of Meadowcreek and Johns Creek.
Heritage-Conyers and Pope debuted in the Class AAAAA rankings after Tucker and Gainesville lost recent games.
In Class AAA, Buford fell out of the rankings after losses to Decatur and West Hall. Decatur moved up to No. 6.
