From Georgia Soccer: In Memoriam: Ken Palmer

In Memoriam: Ken Palmer

In Memoriam:

Last Sunday, Georgia Soccer lost a long time participant in Ken Palmer. Ken started playing while at the Military Academy at West Point and after relocating to Atlanta for IBM, began playing in local leagues in the early 90’s. While he participated in a number of adult leagues, Ken was a long term and top player in the Cobb Adult Soccer League. He passed away from a heart attack shortly after leaving a game in Cobb County. He will be certainly missed by the adult soccer community throughout the metro Atlanta area where he had made a name for himself as a top soccer athlete with a great personality. It is also a shock to many as Ken was the specimen of an apparent robust athlete despite just having turned 50 with many players 20 years younger not being able to keep up with him.

Final arrangements:A viewing will be held for Ken at Mayes Ward Dobbins funeral Home on Church Street in Marietta on Friday March 15th from 6p-8p with a short prayer service at 7:30p. Ken's funeral will be on Saturday, March 16th at 11 am at Liberty Hill Baptist Church 1053 Liberty Hill Rd, Marietta GA. Ken's burial will immediately follow the funeral. Friend's and family are invited back to Liberty Hill Baptist Church for a repast after the burial. All are welcome.
