Berry College women`s soccer program update


Berry Soccer Welcomes 15 Newcomers


Fifteen high school student-athletes have committed to the Berry College women`s soccer program, announced Vikings Head Coach Lorenzo Canalis. The recruiting class consists of two goalkeepers, six defenders, four midfielders and three forwards. Goalkeeper Casey Born comes to Berry from Armuchee High School in Rome, Ga. She was a four-year starter in both soccer and softball. Off the field, she was a member of the National Honor Society.Born plans to major in early childhood education at Berry. Canalis quote: `Casey is a talented and versatile athlete who has played both in goal and as a defender in high school. We plan to use her mostly as a goalkeeper.`
Others include; Midfielder Caitlin Crawford, Danielle Creamer, Hailey Hendrickson is a midfielder from Kennesaw, Defender Haley Jones will join the Vikings from Harrison High School, Defender Kristina Meyer first attended Freedom High School in Orlando, Margaret Midkiff is from Macon, Ga, Defender Rachel Muehlfeld will join the Vikings from Augusta (Ga.) Preparatory School, Midfielder/Defender Tessa Piety is a sophomore transfer from perennial NAIA powerhouse Lee University, Melissa Sanchez is a goalkeeper from Coral Springs (Fla.) High School, Forward Victoria Shonk comes to Mount Berry from Starr`s Mill High School in Fayetteville, Emily Shotts comes to Berry from Knoxville, Tenn., and Karns High School Forward Melissa Sullivan hails from Buford (Ga.) High School and Lauren Sykora is a defender from Suwanee, Ga., and Lambert High School.
