Locals in the News: Fayette Co. soccer star on U.S. Women's World Cup team

Before she was a US Women's World Cup team member, or an Olympic gold medalist, Kelley O'Hara was a soccer player from Peachtree City, Georgia with a dream. After winning a state championship in 2006 as a member of the Starr's Mill High School team, she went on to have a stellar career at Stanford University before gaining internationalacclaim.
As she prepares to compete in the FIFA Women's World Cup 2015 in Canada, her heart is still in Fayette County. She hasn't forgotten from where she came and understands the platform that her accomplishments have given her to inspire others to not only aim high, but to reach their own goals.
Last month, the 2015 Starr's Mill Lady Panthers beat Northgate 2-nil to claim the fifth girl's soccer state championship in school history, and one of their biggest fans was cheering them on, via social media, from afar. Now it's their chance to return the favor. O'Hara can rest assured that her hometown will be pulling for her and she and the rest of the US women's team try to bring it home.
USA! USA! USA!
