Columbus' Red Star U14 Boys Black soccer team won the 2012 Publix Atlanta Cup, featuring more than 500 teams, in the top division for their age group
Two shut outs and a bye qualified the team for the semifinals Sunday against a team from Charlotte. Red Star prevailed in penalty kicks, clinching a position for a game on championship Monday.
The final game was against Alianza of Atlanta. After a scorless overtime, the game ended in sudden-death penalty kicks, and Red Star came through the victorious, taking the title for the second straight year.
