UAH, winners of their last two matches after going winless in their first six contests, lit the scoreboard first in the seventh minute when Marie Blunt found the back of the net off an organized corner piece with the assist coming off the foot of Niina Jutsu’s corner.
UNG (7-1-0, 2-0-0 PBC) would respond with a pair of quick goals with the first coming at the 10:44 mark when Megan Morrow cleaned up a loose ball rebound that bounced of the post in front of the goal. The goal was the junior defender’s first of the season. Kassidy Freeman would net the game-winner just 45 seconds later when she deposited a cross from Kayla Croom. The goal was Freeman’s fourth of the season.
“We got off to a bit of a slow start and after they scored first I thought we did a good job of putting our foot on the gas and turning the pressure back on them,” head coach Chris Adams said. “UAH made it difficult on us with their game plan but once we got the two quick ones we settled in and really executed our style of play.”
With under three minutes remaining before intermission, the Nighthawks would extend the lead to 3-1 on a Caroline Wallace goal as she would gather a midfield turnover and race into the box to defeat UAH keeper Iris Gunnarsdottir in the lower left corner. The score was Wallace’s first of the season.
In the 59th minute Kelly Penston would cap the scoring with her eighth goal of the season with the goal helped by Jacy Ramey.
North Georgia held a decisive 25-5 advantage in shots including 15-3 in shots on frame. UNGs Mallory Sayre and Rachel Allred would split time in goal with both net-minders collecting one save apiece. Gunnarsdottir would end the night with a season-best 11 saves.
